To raise awareness regarding current issues facing the transportation community, and to recognize those individuals who continue to improve the field of transportation, the Rudin Center hosts a series of annual events including symposia, an awards reception, Transportation Policymakers Breakfasts, and Visiting Scholars Lecture Series.

RECENT SYMPOSIUM
SPRING SYMPOSIUM - CLOSING THE GAP:Financing the Region's Transportation Needs
On June 4, 2008, about 320 individuals from both the public and private sectors attended "CLOSING THE GAP: Financing the Region's Transportation Needs." The symposium was co-sponsored by NYU Wagner Rudin Center for Transportation Policy & Management, New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC), Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the Port Authority of NY & NJ, CSX Transportation, and the American Planning Association's New York Metro Chapter, University Transportation Center - Region 2, Wagner Transportation Association. Edward Rendell, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, provided the keynote address. In addition, the conference featured two panels of experts who discussed the transportation funding crisis at the national and local levels; future options for financing and funding operations and maintenance, capital improvements, and expansion; and the institutional and political challenges associated with how we raise monies for transportation.

On November 13, over 300 individuals from both the public and private sector attended "Thinking Bigger: New York and Transportation in the Northeast Megaregion." The event was hosted by the NYU Wagner Rudin Center for Transportation Policy & Management and the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council. The event was co-sponsored by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the University Transportation Research Center – Region 2, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, along with the American Institute of Architects New York Chapter, the Regional Plan Association, the University of Delaware’s Institute of Public Administration and the Wagner Transportation Association.
